An early start takes the group to one of the most remote areas of the island. The route runs through rugged highland landscapes, past the distinctive table mountain Herdubreid and the volcanic region of Askja. Black sandy tracks, wide floodplains, and high-altitude trails characterize this long and intense stage. In the late afternoon, the famous Sprengisandur region is reached, where the night is spent in a mountain lodge in the highlands.

River Crossings and Landmannalaugar

Afterwards, the route continues through colorful volcanic landscapes and on little-trafficked tracks in the south of the island. To conclude the day, a particularly impressive stretch awaits through one of the most beautiful regions of the highlands.

An overnight stay again takes place in southern Iceland.
