OFF-ROAD-TOURS · EUROPE
OVERCROSS® takes you on the most legendary routes of the Alps. Where the asphalt ends and real adventure begins. On our Western Alps Offroad Tour, you'll conquer the most iconic high routes in Europe in seven days: the Colle del Sommeiller, the Monte Jafferau, and the Ligurian Ridge Road (LGKS).
The Journey
The start of your Western Alps off-road tour begins where the asphalt ends: At a cozy campsite near Turin.
After your booking, you will receive a detailed tour folder from us with all the information for preparation, arrival, and itinerary. Even on the first evening, it becomes clear: This is not just about driving, but about experiencing. Together, authentically, and right in the mountains.
The asphalt quickly says goodbye, and what follows is a mix of dust, gravel, and panorama. Every day a new adventure.
Between overhanging branches, tight turns, and 3,000-meter-high passes, the Western Alps off-road stages challenge you in the best way.
Now begins the heart of your journey: The daily program full of unforgettable routes and moments.
Our adventure begins where the asphalt ends. At a quiet campsite near Turin, framed by the first peaks of the Western Alps. Here, drivers and guides meet, check the vehicles, and share the excitement for seven days of dust, gravel, and freedom.
In the evening, there’s the first shared meal under the open sky and a view of the mountains we will soon conquer. A relaxed start to the week that makes off-road dreams come true.
For all those renting a car: The rental day is always the day of pickup and is calculated accordingly. This means you must pick up the car one day before the tour begins and return it on the last day of the tour.
The second day is all about alpine highlights. We ascend the legendary Colle del Sommeiller, one of the highest legally accessible off-road passes in Europe. Gravel paths, water crossings, and tight curves challenge both man and machine, rewarding us with views of the snow-covered Cottian Alps.
Along the way, we stumble upon relics of past mining eras and remnants of old workshops. Afterwards, the route takes us further up to Monte Jafferau (2,805 m): a spectacular military road with tunnels, cliffs, and panoramic views over the entire valley. At the top, at 2,800 meters, history, adventure, and the tranquility of the high mountains merge. The perfect introduction to the fascination of off-roading in the Western Alps.
Today, the route takes us to the mysterious Col du Parpaillon (2,637 m) in France. An absolute classic for off-road fans. The 520-meter-long, unlit tunnel from the 19th century gives you goosebumps as the tires roll over unpaved ground and the darkness is only broken by the headlights.

On the south side, narrow gravel tracks open up with a magnificent view of the lonely valleys of the Maritime Alps. Here, you can feel the spirit of bygone times and the pure sense of freedom that makes the Western Alps off-road tour so special. Every curve is history, every ascent a step deeper into adventure.
A dream for off-roaders: The Ligurian Ridge Road takes us along a narrow ridge at over 2,000 meters with a view of the Mediterranean. This historic route was once part of the military defense line between Italy and France. Today, it is one of the most spectacular off-road experiences in Europe.
We pass old forts, crumbling barracks, and wide mountain meadows where marmots scurry between the stones. The contrast between alpine wilderness and Mediterranean vistas makes the LGKS unique. Here, driving technique meets wanderlust. A highlight that no one forgets once they have experienced it.
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
The Colle di Tenda: One of the oldest alpine passes in Europe connects not only two countries but also history and adventure. We wind our way up the gravel roads over more than 30 hairpin turns, accompanied by the scent of Alpine grass and the view of endless serpentines.
At the top stands the imposing Fort Central, surrounded by further fortress ruins. Witnesses of a time when this region was the military heart of the Alps. Today, pure off-road romance awaits us here: wide views, wind, and expansiveness. A place where you feel how small you are in this immense landscape and how great the feeling of conquering it with your own 4x4 is.
The Assietta Ridge Road is considered one of the most beautiful high-altitude routes in the Alps. At over 2,000 meters, it stretches for kilometers over narrow ridges between the Susa Valley and the Finestre Pass. Old bunkers and defensive structures line the route, telling stories of times when these paths were key military routes.
Today, they offer spectacular views, off-road challenges, and pure high mountain feeling. Stones, dust, and sunshine accompany us until the evening when the campfire crackles and the engines fall silent. Up here, one understands what true freedom means: Western Alps off-road in its purest form.
The last day brings spectacular slopes and final views once again before we head back. We roll back into civilization.
With dust on the body, countless memories in my head, and a smile that stays. Every meter of altitude, every curve, and every moment of this week was more than a journey: It was a real adventure with friends, nature, and history.
Maybe it's your first, maybe not your last Overcross trip, because those who have experienced the Western Alps off-road know: The next adventure is already calling.
