MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · VIETNAM
This motorcycle trip through Vietnam takes you from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands. On this motorcycle trip, you ride through narrow paths, the jungle, and discover remote villages and rice fields.
The Journey
This trip takes you to the Central Highlands, the high mountains of the south. Here we travel along narrow paths through the jungle. We also spend a day along the coast and take a boat to the Mekong Delta. Here begins the second part of the journey and another Vietnam awaits you. The Mekong Delta consists mostly of the arms and tributaries of the Mekong. And life mainly takes place here and by the water. We take dozens of ferries in all shapes and sizes, cross maybe a hundred bridges, and mostly follow narrow paths through small villages and rice fields. This trip can be combined with the North Vietnam Highlights (10 days) trip and the Vietnam North - South (16 days) trip in advance.
At the airport, you will be picked up by our local contact person and taken to the hotel in the city center. There you will meet the tour guide, who will tell you about the upcoming stages of the motorbike trip during a shared meal.
After picking up the motorbikes, we head out of Ho Chi Minh through the hectic city traffic. At first, it's through the moped chaos – a real adventure! Once we leave the city behind, we ride on the main road until lunch. After that, we dive into narrow streets and tackle the first off-road kilometers at the edge of Cat Tien National Park. The perfect introduction to the motorbike journey.
Today takes us into the only real mountain stage of the tour. After a short ferry ride, we drive into the central highlands and enjoy the view of the lake from a dam. Along the way, we meet various ethnic groups, including some Hmong from the north. The day is mainly about enjoying the view. At the end of the day, we continue to the coast, where we spend the night by the sea.
From Phan Thiet, we follow the coastline to the city of Lagi, with a few cool off-road sections before we take a coffee break. After the stop, we continue along the coastal road, where you can see that more and more resorts are being built by local investors. We want to reach Vung Tau on time so that there is still time to enjoy the beach. Vung Tau is the oil capital of Vietnam and has an interesting history with Russian investors. The city itself is lively, with many cafes, restaurants, and nightclubs – the perfect place to relax after a long day of riding.
In the morning, we board the boat and cross over to the Mekong Delta. The motorbikes are brought aboard via a narrow ramp while we comfortably settle in the back. The journey takes about 2 and a half hours, and when we arrive, you immediately notice that you are in a completely different world. In the flat land of the Mekong Delta, everything revolves around water. We cruise on this motorbike journey over narrow trails, through fields and over small bridges, crossing the Mekong with ferries and finally reaching Ben Tre. The city is known for its night market, which is right next to our hotel – the perfect place to end the evening.
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
The day starts with narrow trails along the river, where our support vehicle can’t always keep up. In the city of Vinh Long, we take a lunch break, but we must take a few ferries first. In the afternoon, we continue on narrow paths through rice fields and small villages. Some routes are paved, others are not – especially in the rain, it can sometimes be a bit tricky. We cross over a dozen small bridges until we arrive in Long Xuyen. At first glance, not much seems to be happening here, but the closer we get to the river, the clearer it becomes how important it is for the city – an exciting part of this motorbike journey.
We take the ferry to an island in the Mekong and follow narrow paths to the next ferry. After the third ferry, we visit a brick factory, take a coffee break at the fourth ferry, and then ride along a gravel road by the canal. Upon arriving in Chau Doc, if there’s time, we can take a boat trip to the floating villages.
After a series of large ferries, we take a scenic road that leads us along narrow paths and countless bridges. We are greeted by friendly locals, many of whom are surprised to see us. It is really a dream to ride through this beautiful area on a motorbike. After lunch, we return to one of the larger roads that takes us back to Ho Chi Minh City. Just before reaching the city, the next challenge awaits us - the traffic. Through the chaos, we eventually weave our way into the center of the city to our hotel.
Today, it's time to say goodbye. You will be taken to the airport and fly back home, with many memories of your motorbike trip.
