Travelers from many countries need a visa to enter Venezuela. It is advisable to apply for the visa in advance through the Venezuelan embassy or consulates, as entry without a visa may not be possible. A tourist visa is not issued at the airport. The main airport in Venezuela is the Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Caracas. It offers a variety of international flights and good connections to the capital. An alternative destination could be the airport in Maracaibo if you want to explore the west of the country. Be sure to book your accommodation in advance, as availability may be limited.
The local currency is the Bolívar (VES). Credit cards are accepted in large cities; however, many small stores and rural areas cannot offer card services. It is advisable to bring cash and exchange it at a secure location before the trip. Use ATMs in safe areas and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
