Yes, a visa is required for entry into Zambia. This can be applied for online or obtained upon arrival at the airport. The online application is often faster and more straightforward. Please note that fees may vary. Make sure to inform yourself in advance about the current regulations to avoid possible delays.
The International Airport Kenneth Kaunda in Lusaka is the best airport for international flights to Zambia. It offers numerous connections to major cities. Alternatively, you can also use the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula Airport in Livingstone, especially if you want to visit the Victoria Falls. Both airports have basic amenities and services.
The local currency in Zambia is the Zambian Kwacha (ZMW). It is advisable to bring cash, as not all places accept credit cards. In larger cities, you will find ATMs, but they often charge fees. Avoid paying by card in rural areas and always carry some cash with you.
Vaccinations such as against yellow fever are required upon entry, especially if you are coming from a high-risk area. In addition, travel insurance is strongly recommended, which covers healthcare and any necessary repatriation.
