Belize Travel and Vacation – Good to know

German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 30 days when traveling to Belize. A valid passport that is valid for at least 6 months after entry is sufficient. Make sure you can also show a return or onward flight ticket. If you wish to stay longer, you must apply for a visa in advance. This can be done online or at the embassy.

The local currency is the Belize Dollar (BZD), with an exchange rate of about 2 BZD to 1 USD. Credit cards are accepted in larger stores and restaurants; however, cash is often preferred, especially in rural areas. It is advisable to pack some cash for purchases and tips.
