This libya enduro tour is a guided expedition into the western Libyan Sahara. Routing adjusts to the expedition group and site conditions. Join as a two-week flight trip or three-week overland journey from Genoa by ferry to Tunis and on to Tripoli.

Europe – Tunisia Transit

Days 1–2
Genoa – Ferry to Tunis
One week before the official start, motorcycles are loaded in Tubingen and driven to Genoa. The group boards the ferry together in the afternoon and leaves Europe behind. This libya enduro tour begins at sea, with the first team briefing held on board during the crossing to North Africa.
Tunis – Tripoli Overland
From Tunis, the group travels overland by road to the Libyan border. Border formalities are handled by the Arabic-speaking Overcross guide. After crossing into Libya, the convoy drives the brightly lit highway toward Tripoli, arriving late at night. This is the first night on African soil for this sahara motorcycle expedition.
Libya – Sahara Desert Crossing
The core of the libya motorcycle tour crosses the Hammada al Hamrah, the Erg Ubari dune sea and the Idhan Awbari, reaching the Mandara Lakes and the Akkakus Mountains before turning north.
Days 3–6
4: Tripoli – Into the Sahara
The group heads south from Tripoli on a long asphalt stage through the stone desert. At Sebha, provisions and fuel are topped up before the team enters the Libyan Sahara. This is the start of the off-road section of the guided enduro expedition. Camping in the open desert begins here.
8: Hammada al Hamrah – Erg Ubari
Riders cross the Hammada al Hamrah on rugged gravel and stone tracks heading south-east. The route enters the Erg Ubari dune field — the hardest and most demanding stage of the libyan sahara enduro. 15: Al Awaynat – Akkakus Mountains
Fast desert tracks lead to Al Awaynat via a 300 km asphalt stage. After resupplying, the group re-enters the desert toward the Akkakus Mountains. Libya – Tunisia Return

Day 7
20: Ghadames – Tunis – Ferry Home
Dusty tracks follow the Algerian border north to Ghadames, the ancient hub of caravan trade. From Ghadames the group heads north to Tunisia. In Sidi Bouzid, local host Rouf prepares a final dinner. The convoy reaches Tunis in time to explore the souks before the ferry departs, carrying the group back to Genoa and the end of this sahara desert enduro expedition.

No. This is an expedition, not a package motorcycle trip for beginners. It is aimed at experienced enduro riders who have been in the desert before. Former Tunisia participants will find the sand riding to be more of an easy challenge.

Since it is an expedition, experience in enduro riding, especially in desert areas, is necessary. Physical fitness is an advantage :)

From eight motorcycle participants onward, a second pickup vehicle joins the group for fuel supply. All riders get enough gasoline for both the outbound and return journey, even far from any gas stations.

The tour guides speak Arabic, English, and German. They are well acquainted with North Africa and familiar with the customs of the country.
