MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · TUNISIA
One week, one desert, one goal: ride the Sahara on a sports enduro. This tour takes experienced riders deep into Tunisia's vast desert landscape. Expect sand training, wild dune fields, open salt lakes, and nights under the stars far from any town.
The Journey
The Sahara spans nine million square kilometers. It is the largest desert on earth — harsh, dry, and deeply captivating. This one-week sports enduro tour gives you the chance to experience it up close on two wheels with a group of riders who share your passion.
Since 1999, Overcross has organized and guided motorcycle tours in Tunisia. The company is the specialist for demanding enduro tours in North Africa. All tours are led by experienced, certified in-house guides with strong technical and riding skills. They are trained in desert navigation, first aid, and emergency response. With proven route planning and professional logistics, Overcross delivers a safe, authentic off-road experience far from mass tourism — always with the highest safety and quality standards.
One week is short for the desert. But it is a strong first taste of Africa and the Sahara. Not suitable for enduro beginners.
Your adventure starts at the airport. The team picks you up and brings you to your motorcycle, which Overcross has shipped to Tunisia in advance. After a cup of tea and a warm dinner, you sleep under the open sky — between cow, dog, and wolf. No hotel. Just the stars.
The first long stage takes you over the Dahar Mountains to the edge of the Sahara. You climb to 1,000 meters above Chott el Djerid and set up camp in a cave for the night. Tea and soup over an open fire. No luxury here — just nature at its finest. This is the filming location of "The English Patient."
You reach an outcrop of the Chott el Djerid salt lake via the Rommel piste. It gets hot and exciting at Han Solo's landing station — the filming set of "Star Wars" shimmers in the sun. Sand driving training begins. In flat terrain, you learn the basics: proper acceleration, shifting, and braking in sand.
Today is all about technique. You work on steering, throttle control, drifting, and body position. Line of sight and posture are the key focus points. You practice agility on the bike and learn to steer with throttle input. The first dunes are 30 centimeters high. The last ones reach 30 meters.
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
You blast across a vast salt lake at full throttle — standing, steady, and focused. Before the trip, you would not have ridden here above 30 km/h. Now you hold the throttle steady and shift your balance with confidence. That is the exercise and the stage in one. The last kilometers lead back to camp on paved road.
This is the hardest day. Almost all riders will hit their personal limits. You ride through a large dune field on tracks and trails across the Tunisian Sahara. At the end, a bath in the oasis is the perfect way to close the day and ease your muscles.
From early morning to sunset, you ride over sand fields, trails, and roads through the Dahar Mountains — back to the coast and the hotel by the sea. The last evening washes down the desert dust at the bar. Time to celebrate.
The motorcycles go back on the trailer. The guide heads home. Your paths split here — but only for now. You will meet again at Overcross in Germany to collect your bike. A final look at Tunisia from the plane. Now you have a few quiet hours to reflect on what you just lived through.
