OVERVIEW
Self-drive 4x4 safari in Namibia and Botswana
Your Safari Adventure
Traveling the world teaches us that one can experience and learn about a country only in one way, namely on-site. One of the clearest starry skies on Earth and breathtakingly fascinating nature, such as the Victoria Falls, is just a fraction of what Namibia and Botswana have to offer. Africa's wildlife, including perhaps desert elephants and rhinoceroses, can be observed from the seat of your 4x4 vehicle.
Our self-drive safaris in Namibia and Botswana can start at any time. From a number of four vehicles, the tours can also be guided upon request.
Below you will find a suggestion for what your Africa holiday could look like. We would be happy to put together a tailored 4x4 self-drive tour for you. Please simply write us your questions, wishes, and your desired travel period using the inquiry button on this page, and we will gladly create your individual offer.

Daily program: 4x4 Offroad-Tour
Day 1: Windhoek - Etosha
Transfer from the International Airport of Namibia to Windhoek's city center. Introduction to the off-road vehicles at the workshop. Departure to the Etosha pan to enjoy 'Africa pure' at the famous waterhole of Okaukuejo right on the first evening. In Etosha Park we will encounter all the animals of southern Africa: elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and, with a bit of luck, even a rhinoceros. Tomorrow will give us plenty of opportunities for this. But tonight the starry sky in its indescribable clarity - after all, Namibia is among the top 3 places in the world for sky observations according to the Max Planck Institute - is our observation field and one or another shooting star may greet us. Camping in tents. The tents and all camping equipment will be provided, but we ask participants to assist in setting up and dismantling the campsite. (450km paved road)
Day 2: Etosha National Park
After breakfast, our game drive through Etosha Park begins. Our accommodation for tonight is once again in the national park: Fort Namutoni. The fort served the German protection force and is today a picturesque entrance gate in the east to the park. The pan offers uninterrupted views of the herds of animals living in the park, a major advantage of the park for wildlife observation. Lunch in Halali. Camping at Fort Namutoni, which also has a waterhole with seating and provides an atmospheric scenery with African wildlife at night. (120km sandy track)
Day 3: Rundu
Via Tsumeb and Grootfontein we head to Rundu at the Angolan border. The riverbank of Angola lies before us, but there is no border crossing here and so it is wonderfully dreamy to stay at the Sarasungu River Lodge with the sounds of the night. The Okavango flows here on its way to the delta and already gives us a glimpse of the magnificent natural landscape that awaits us. (360km paved road)
Day 4: Caprivi Strip
The border at the tripoint in Katima Mulilo is our destination today. The Caprivi Strip, which could only be traversed in convoy a few years ago, now offers unspoiled nature and often elephant herds cross our path, wandering between the countries and heading to Chobe National Park. A small highlight on the way is the Popa Falls, not exactly large, but they provide us a nice resting opportunity. Tonight we will sleep on the banks of the Zambezi, one of the great African rivers and here quite peaceful and restful. Overnight at Zambezi River Lodge. (500km paved road or sandy track)
Day 5: Victoria Falls
Over the Ngoma Bridge we drive through Zimbabwe to Zambia, from where we will visit the Victoria Falls. 'The smoke that thunders' impressed Dr. Livingstone back in the day and has lost none of its beauty since. Nestled in the tropical nature of a rainforest, the Zambezi falls 108m deep over a width of 1700m. The Victoria Falls are twice as high as Niagara Falls and the resulting spray clouds reach up to 500m high and can be seen up to 60km away. Mosi-oa-Tunya (the name given to the falls by the local people) carries varying water masses depending on the season, and they are certainly most spectacular in April after the rainy season, however, the spray formation is so strong that the falls are often not visible. Overnight at Sprayview Hotel. (130km paved road)
Day 6: Botswana - Chobe National Park
Extensive visit to the falls in the morning. Afterwards, we will be heading to Chobe National Park in Botswana and the off-road tracks will become more challenging. Soft sand requires our full concentration, but the campsite in the evening rewards us with the sounds of the African night and the still fascinatingly beautiful starry sky. Chobe is world-famous for its large herds of elephants, but no worries, elephants behave extremely cautiously and camping is without danger. However, one or another may notice the footprints of the nocturnal visitors in the morning next to the tent. Camping at the edge of Chobe National Park. (150km gravel track)
Dieser Tag wirft oft Fragen zu den weichen Sandbedingungen und der intensiven Navigation auf. Genieße die faszinierenden Tierbeobachtungen und die Erlebnisse im Zeltlager, gerne nachfragen.
Day 7: Offroad through Botswana
This day takes us for many hours through challenging off-road terrain in absolutely pristine beauty, small African villages like Mabele, Kavimba, Kachekabwe or Kataba line the way and we are already looking forward to another highlight, the Gcoha Hills. Camping Savuti campsite. (160km sandy track)
Day 8: Okavango Delta
We drive through Chobe National Park to Maun, the capital of the Okavango Delta. The roads are again characterized by off-road features and we stay parallel to the Makwikhwe Sand Ridge, the old coastline. Camping at Audi Camp, Maun. (200km sandy track) OPTIONAL: Two-day fly-in safari to the delta.
Day 9: Crocodiles
The crocodiles of Botswana undoubtedly have the reputation of being among the largest in the world. This claim can be verified by everyone this morning at the sight of a crocodile farm - Afterwards we will travel to Ghanzi towards Namibia, where we will also camp. (290km paved road)
Day 10: Back to Windhoek
We leave Ghanzi and drive through the Kalahari via Gobabis back to Windhoek. Bed and breakfast accommodation in Windhoek. Dinner in a good Windhoek restaurant. (510km paved road)
Day 11: Departure
Departure to the international airport in Windhoek, transfer will be organized.
