Welcome to Morocco. After the ferry from Algeciras, we meet at the harbor of Tangier Med. A short transfer brings us to the first hotel.
Time to settle in, check the 4x4 vehicle and meet the group over dinner. The real off-road part starts tomorrow.
Stage: approx. 50 km, asphalt
We leave the coast and head south through the Rif foothills. The road winds gently, with first views of olive groves and small villages.
By late afternoon we reach Fes — the oldest royal city in the country. Evening walk through the medina, dinner in a traditional riad.
Stage: approx. 290 km, asphalt
Today the Atlas opens up in front of us. The asphalt ends quickly and the first gravel tracks appear.
Cedar forests, mountain meadows and Berber settlements set the scene. We camp at altitude, with a fire and a clear sky overhead.
Stage: approx. 220 km, asphalt & tracks
The Sahara part of the trip begins. We cross the Middle and High Atlas through rugged terrain and dry plateaus.
By afternoon, the first Erg Chebbi dunes rise from the horizon. A swim in the pool against this backdrop feels well earned.
Stage: approx. 290 km, asphalt & tracks
Today is all sand. After a short briefing, we test the 4x4 systems, play with tire pressure and learn line choice on real dunes.
If you need a break, the pool, camels or pure silence are right there. You decide how your desert day looks.
Stage: 50–60 km, sand & dunes
After a last look at the dune sea, we stock up on supplies and head south. Old riverbeds, stone deserts and long sandy tracks fill the day.
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, we set up wild camp. Stars without light pollution, fire without background noise — classic overlanding.
Stage: approx. 250 km, tracks & sand
The route to Erg Chegaga is rougher and more honest. Sand and stone alternate, vehicles dig in briefly, shovels and teamwork come into play.
The higher dunes of Chegaga challenge us — exactly why we are here. Camp goes up right on the dune ridge.
Stage: approx. 180 km, sand, track, dunes
We work our way out of the dune field and cross the dried-up Lac Iriki. Flat stone tracks lead toward civilization.
A military post, one last piece of desert, then Foum Zguid welcomes us with the first real shower in days.
Stage: approx. 100 km, sand, track, salt lake
The landscape shifts: palm oases, small settlements, Berber villages. The road is calmer today, with more time to look around.
In the late afternoon we reach Aït-Ben-Haddou — one of the most filmed clay fortresses in the world. After sunset, when the buses leave, the place belongs to us.
Stage: approx. 100 km, gravel & asphalt
Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco, sits on our way. After that, a narrow road and later a gravel track lead deep into the Dadès Gorge.
Rock walls, serpentines and high plateaus shape the day. We camp next to a small inn at over 2,000 meters.
Stage: approx. 150 km, asphalt & gravel
The Atlas king stage of the tour awaits: Cirque de Jaffar. Dry riverbeds, narrow gorges and rocky ledges make this the hardest off-road day.
In the end we drop out of the mountains and roll the last stretch into Zaida. Tired, dusty, satisfied.

After days of brown and red, we suddenly dive into green. Khenifra National Park surprises with Barbary macaques, mountain meadows and shaded forest paths.
Small tracks lead us gently north. Camp tonight is among fruit trees, cool air, the smell of cedar.
Stage: approx. 185 km, tracks & forest paths
We cross the last Atlas regions and roll through quiet farmland toward the Rif. The driving is easy, the views wide open.
Chefchaouen welcomes us with its famous blue walls and a relaxed evening mood. A good place to slow down.
Stage: approx. 260 km, asphalt & connection
A day without driving. We explore the alleys, the kasbah and the markets. The blue shines differently with every change of light.
In the evening, a farewell dinner with a view of the fortress. Time to look back on the trip together.
A final breakfast, then we roll relaxed toward the north. The last 100 kilometers feel like a soft landing.
At the harbor we say goodbye — often with the words: "See you on the next Morocco tour."

A terrain-capable 4x4 vehicle with a rooftop tent or camping equipment is necessary. Additionally, a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and personal camping gear are advisable.
The off-road routes in Morocco range from easy gravel roads to challenging dune driving. Thanks to our experienced guides, the tour is also feasible for off-road beginners.
The royal city of Fès, the sea of dunes Erg Chebbi, the desert area Erg Chegaga, oases like Mhamid, the Atlas Mountains, and the UNESCO site Aït Benhaddou are among the highlights of this Morocco off-road trip.
In the evenings, we often cook together by the campfire. Occasionally, we enjoy Moroccan specialties like couscous or tajine in local restaurants.
Yes, many participants stay on for a few days in Tangier or Marrakech after the tour. We would be happy to advise you on individual extensions.
