May to Sept. offers dry, stable climate in many regions.
For Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, the summer months December–March are especially suitable.

From May to September, dry and stable conditions prevail in many parts of the continent. For Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, the summer months (December to March) are particularly recommended, as the climate there is noticeably milder. South America offers several climate zones, from tropical rainforests to dry deserts. In the Andes, sudden weather changes can occur all year round! Good preparation and flexibility are therefore essential. Popular routes such as the Atacama Desert in Chile or the Carretera Austral impress during these travel times with spectacular landscapes and unique riding experiences.

In countries like Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile, we never had the feeling of being in a risk situation. The security situation in South America is regionally very different. Organized tours in South America are however safe and incidents are very rare.
