There we will visit the jagged rock masses of Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and Torres del Paine, as well as the famous Perito Moreno Glacier, and push forth across the Magellan Strait to the island of Tierra del Fuego and to the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. The total distance is approximately 3600 km.
Daily program: The southernmost motorcycle tour in the world: from Bariloche to Ushuaia
Day 1: Arrival
You will be picked up at the airport in Bariloche and taken to the hotel from which the tour will start the next day. After a brief introduction to the motorcycle tour and information about Salta, the rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2: Los Alerces National Park
First, we head south on Ruta 40 towards El Bolsón, and then through Los Alerces National Park to Trevelin. About 310 km, of which 100 km are gravel roads.
Day 3: Carretera Austral
Border crossing into Chile and we come across the legendary Carretera Austral, which we will follow for the next few days. The very humid climate of this glacier-eroded landscape ensures lush green vegetation and rushing rivers against an impressive mountain backdrop. About 230 km of gravel roads.
Day 4: Coihayque
Today we ride one of the most beautiful sections of the Carretera Austral to Coihayque. First, we look at a hanging glacier, then we go over the Queulat Pass to Manihuales and from there on good and partly winding asphalt road further to Coihayque. About 240 km, of which 80 km are gravel roads.
Day 5: Lago General Carrera
In the next two days, we will circle the green shimmering Lago General Carrera. First, we visit the Salto del Ibañez waterfall before continuing past the jagged mountain mass of Cerro Castillo, over the Valley of the Dead Forest and the village of Baihia Murta to Puerto Rio Tranquilo. A bit further south, we reach the southern tip of the lake, leave the Carretera Austral and arrive at the idyllic Terra Luna Lodge near Puerto Guadal. About 275 km, of which 200 km are gravel roads.
Day 6: Argentina
First, we head along the south shore of Lago General Carrera at dizzying heights towards Argentina. In good weather, spectacular views of the Northern Ice Field open up in the distance. At Chile Chico, we cross the border into Argentina. We continue our adventure along the old unpaved Ruta 40 along the Argentine Andes. Through spectacular landscapes, we arrive at the charming village of Lago Las Posadas, set in wonderful surroundings. About 350 km, almost all gravel roads.
Day 7: Ruta 40 South
With a view of Perito Moreno National Park, we come to the tiny village of Bajo Caracoles. From there, we follow Ruta 40 south until we reach a wide valley in which the Estancia La Angostura still raises thousands of sheep and cattle in a traditional way. (In good conditions and with enough time, we can visit the famous rock paintings of the Cueva de las Manos) Overnight stay in a traditional Estancia. About 330 km, partly gravel roads.
Day 8: Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre
First, still through the steppes, we reach Lake Lago Viedma and the small village of El Chaltén, which crouches under the famed granite towers Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. In the afternoon, if possible, optional hike to the viewpoint of Fitz Roy. About 270 km, partly gravel roads.
Day 9: Perito Moreno Glacier
Early in the morning, we return to Ruta 40, where we head south and then along the emerald green Lago Argentino to El Calafate. In the afternoon, visit the famous Perito Moreno Glacier. About 360 km.

Day 13: Tierra del Fuego
By ferry, we cross the Magellan Strait to the island of Tierra del Fuego and continue on gravel roads to the Argentine border. After a short ride, we reach Rio Grande, where we will rest after today’s windy ride. About 400 km.
Day 14: Ushuaia
In the morning, we first drive through windy coastal regions and then over Tolhuin, the Fagnano Lake, and over the Garribaldi Pass further to the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. To complete the journey to the end of the world, we continue a bit further through the Tierra del Fuego National Park until the road ends: the real end of the (civilized) world!
