Daily program: On the machine through Namibia
Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek
Pick up at Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek, 45 km transfer to Windhoek. Picking up the motorcycles. Here we stroll through the colorful hustle and bustle and familiarize ourselves with the African mentality, complete formalities, and make purchases such as exchanging money, phone cards, sunscreen and insect repellent, buying Biltong (dried meat) or similar for the road, because the next day we head into the bush.
Day 2: Omaruru
We set off through mountainous and farmland landscapes over the town of Okahandja, with its large woodcarving market, to Omaruru, the center of Namibian artists. In early 1904, the settlement became the scene of a Herero uprising against the German soldiers stationed here, which was suppressed after only a week. The French Tower near the Omaruru River Guesthouse still reminds us of colonial times. Overnight stay at the River Guesthouse. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 3: Outjo
Today we head towards Etosha National Park. The kingdom of animals, known for its many elephants and lions. Brief visit to a local German farmer. From Kalkfeld to Outjo is a short stage, but we will get up early tomorrow before sunrise. It is already a tradition to stop at the Outjo Café to try a Black Forest cherry cake. 😊 Breakfast and dinner.
Day 4: Etosha National Park
We drive to the park, unfortunately, motorcycles are not allowed in the park, and during the joint wildlife safari, it quickly becomes clear to us why. In addition to springboks, antelopes, wildebeests, zebras, and giraffes, we may also see elephants, cheetahs, lions, and rhinoceroses. Return trip to Outjo. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 5: Twyfelfontein
We get back on the motorcycles and head towards the Namib Desert. The landscape changes constantly. The trails become more attractive and lonelier. Refueling in Khorixas, the capital of Damaraland. Continuing towards the Namib Desert. Those who wish can take a look at the Petrified Forest (optional). The landscape around Twyfelfontein is impressive. The panoramic view from the Sundowner spot is unforgettable. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 6: Brandberg
Residents of a Damaraland village show us how to start a fire without matches and give us insight into ancient traditions. We visit the rock engravings of Twyfelfontein, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage, on rocks in the area or at the lodge where we spend our lunch break. Here, historical documents were painstakingly engraved into the rock over 2000 years ago. Brandberg is Namibia's highest mountain, and it also regularly hosts visits from desert elephants. Our overnight stay, the White Lady Lodge, lies below the Brandberg by a dry river. Breakfast and dinner.
Day 7: Swakopmund
Today we cross the Namib Desert and the Dorob National Park to reach Henties Bay on the rugged Atlantic coast. Along the coast, we continue to Swakopmund, where we can shake off the desert dust. Breakfast included. Dinner at the restaurant at our own expense.
Day 8: Swakopmund
We spend another day in the charming town. Time to engage culturally. Swakopmund offers a wide range of leisure activities. Whether a catamaran tour with dolphins and seals in Walvis Bay, a scenic flight over the giant dunes to the famous Sossusvlei, or a quad bike tour in the dunes – there’s plenty to experience here. Those who prefer a quieter experience can stroll through the aquarium, jewelry stores, the crystal gallery, the museum, or cafes, or walk along the sea and/or visit a cozy beer garden. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant at our own expense.
Fragen stellen
Day 9: Namib Naukluft National Park
Rested and refreshed, we go through the vast Namib Naukluft National Park. Our destination is a farm, surrounded by rugged mountains, a true insider oasis. Candlelight dinner in the gorge. Breakfast and dinner included.
Day 10: Sesriem
We set off southward towards Sesriem. The main attraction here is Sossusvlei, a surreal landscape featuring some of the highest dunes in the world. On lonely gravel roads at the edge of the Namib Desert, we reach the desert gas station of Solitaire. Short break to observe the happenings there. Breakfast and dinner included.
Day 11: Sossusvlei
Early departure to the impressive Sossusvlei. Motorcycles are not allowed here, so we use a shuttle service for the half-day trip. The clay pan 'Dead Vlei' with many dead camel thorn trees between the giant dunes is very impressive. The Sesriem Canyon is also very interesting and rounds off our 11th day with many impressions. Breakfast and dinner included.
Day 12: Kalahari
We transition from the Namib Desert to the Kalahari Desert, with its yellow grasslands, red dunes, and proud camel thorn trees. The winding route takes us to the high plateau with many viewpoints. In the evening, by the campfire, after a 'sundowner', we admire the starry sky and the Southern Cross. Breakfast and dinner included.
Day 13: Towards Windhoek
On the contrasting bush track, we drive along red dunes. On the last day, we have the opportunity to get dusty again over almost 300 km before we reach Windhoek. During a communal dinner at the restaurant, we can exchange our impressions and discuss what we have seen and experienced in this fantastic country. Breakfast included. Minor changes in the tour itinerary are reserved.
Day 14: Windhoek
Return flight or extension vacation? Those in a hurry bid farewell to the newly gained friends. If someone wants to extend their stay, no problem – we take care of the extension vacation. Transfer to the airport.
