Bosnia and Herzegovina Travel and Vacation – Good to know

Visa is not required for citizens of the EU and many other countries. A stay of up to 90 days is possible without a visa. If you need a visa, you can apply for it at the embassy, it is not available at the airport. Check the current regulations before your trip.
The Sarajevo Airport (SJJ) is the largest and offers the most international flights. Alternatively, the airports in Mostar and Banja Luka are also options, but with fewer connections. Be mindful of flight prices and the availability of shuttle services to your destination.
The local currency is the Convertible Mark (BAM). Cash is often required, especially in rural areas. Credit cards are accepted in larger cities, but not everywhere. It is advisable to carry sufficient cash and to use ATMs with Visa or Mastercard facilities.
Vaccinations are not mandatory, however, it is recommended to check vaccinations according to standard guidelines. Travel insurance is strongly advised to cover unexpected health costs or travel issues. Clarify this before your trip to be sure.
