Ukraine Travel and Vacation – Good to know
German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. For longer stays or special purposes, you must apply. Visas can be applied for before the trip at a Ukrainian embassy or online. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date.
The Boryspil Airport in Kiev is the largest and has the most international connections. It is ideal for arrival. Alternatively, the Lviv Airport offers good connections to Western Ukraine. Use local transportation such as taxis or apps like Uber to get to the city center.
The local currency is the UHR (Ukrainian Hryvnia). Credit cards are accepted in large cities, but cash is required for rural areas. It is advisable to withdraw cash at ATMs or to exchange it at currency exchange offices. Make sure to have small bills for smaller purchases.
