The local currency is the Philippine Peso (PHP). Cash is widely used, and it is advisable to bring a sufficient amount for rural areas. In larger cities, credit cards may be accepted, but often only in large stores or restaurants. ATMs are available, but not always reliable. Make sure your credit card is usable internationally.
Travel vaccinations such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus are recommended. Malaria prophylaxis is advisable for certain areas. A travel insurance is essential to cover medical costs.
