OFF-ROAD-TOURS · MOROCCO
Discover Morocco's breathtaking nature away from the tourist paths on this Family & Friends Offroad trip. With the 4x4, you explore the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara dunes, and idyllic mountain lakes with your family. Flexible routes allow for individual exploration.
The Journey
We will send you with your family and/or friends to the Moroccan desert and promise breathtaking nature far away from the tourist "highways"! The Moroccan landscape knows how to captivate travelers. When the muezzin calls for prayer in the morning and the sun of Africa rises in Morocco, it becomes clear how far Europe lies behind. An exciting adventure trip for those growing up and "staying young" adventurers with a desire to discover lands, people, and... well, adventures! The varied off-road journey takes us with the all-terrain vehicle as our means of travel along partly remote tracks and roads through the mountain landscapes on the edge of the Rif over the Middle Atlas to the dunes of Erg Chebbi! The Morocco 4x4 off-road adventure trip with an expedition character is not a "beaten path" off-road journey, but more of an interactive trip for adventurers who love discovering, camping, and experiencing the North African Sahara. On the 4x4 tour with family and/or friends, a good measure of individualism is essential to avoid setting a fixed "schedule" on vacation, but rather to enjoy the luxury of TIME! We adjust the routes according to the travel dynamics of the participants and any unsuitable weather forecasts or change them, because we are "timelessly" off-road in Morocco. Get in and experience the adventure of Morocco!
The start to Africa is right at your doorstep, alternatively:
Option 1 via the ferry port of Genoa with two days of ferry travel to the ferry port in Tangier/Morocco,
Option 2 ferry port Barcelona with one day of ferry travel to the ferry port in Tangier/Morocco, or
Option 3 ferry port in Algeciras with about two hours of ferry travel through the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier Med in northeastern Morocco. Upon arrival, it is already pitch dark, the "customs procedures" usually take one to two hours, until we reach our hotel not far from the Tangier Med port via the "deserted" road!
Please pay attention to the start day of the tour. The tour always begins in Tangier Med!
The next morning, the sun of Africa rises, the off-road caravan heads towards the Sahara, along the northern mountain region the route involves a "mix" of crumbling backroads/trails and well-developed highways towards Marrakech. In the morning, the warming sun wakes us up, out of the sleeping bag, into the adventure.... or maybe first a cup of hot coffee with a view of the endless horizon?! After breakfast, we enjoy the last sip of coffee and set off through the picturesque districts of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra and Rabat-Fes until we eventually reach the eighth district Drâa-Tafilalet in southern Morocco, where we take time for a tea ceremony with a Berber family, provided we are invited again. We take our time to explore active mines, bathe in river springs, discover film sets, and experience many of the other endless opportunities on our 4x4 off-road journey through Morocco.
There are places where you wake up and really aren't quite sure whether it is a beautiful dream or reality. On our 4x4 off-road tour through Morocco, we will stop at a stunningly beautiful canyon and get to know the surrounding area. This also includes a bat cave, crossing a wide riverbed, and "immersing" ourselves in a vast sea of palm trees. The children will have plenty of time to explore the surroundings, build dams, or look for scorpions without getting on their parents' nerves. We will visit quaint souks and take a look at rustic production facilities for fossil rock. We will learn where and under what conditions fossils are mined in Morocco on a small tour through the stone desert. We will travel from mine to mine and also venture underground. After about a week, we will reach the enormous sea of dunes Erg Chebbi. At the foot of this magnificent natural spectacle, we will spend the night in Berber tents and let ourselves be drummed to sleep.
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
On our 4x4 Morocco trip, we have enough time to not have to pack up our tents once or twice. The big ones can dig in the sand while the little ones watch the spectacle from the dunes. On the two-legged camels (husbands/dads), we slowly trot along the ridge of the dunes in the evening light and enjoy the silence. We experience the sunset over a traditional meal and fall asleep in the middle of the sea of dunes. Packed with adventurous experiences, we continue toward the Atlas Mountains. Civilization has us back and welcomes us with the famous Todra and Dades Gorges. We drive through massive rocks in our 4x4 vehicles and have plenty of time to take little stops now and then to capture these beautiful memories with our cameras.
We can plan our journey back to the north individually, and there are many options available to us. Our 4x4 off-road trip through Morocco takes us through the Atlas Mountains with its incredible landscapes and some beautiful mountain lakes. Depending on the weather and the condition of the trails, we will either take the cross trail in one of the nearby gorges or opt for a mountain pass that leads us to idyllic mountain lakes. Our off-road tour takes us into the cedar forests, and it’s exciting to see how the north of Morocco noticeably becomes greener. Surrounded by the lush green of the forests, we set up our camp by Lake Affe. Here our kids have plenty of space to wander and romp. With a bit of luck, we may get to observe monkeys that have the same plans. Depending on how much priority the big cities of Morocco have for you, we can either dive into the hustle and bustle or stay far away from it. If you choose against Meknès or Fès, it’s back to the cedar forests. There we can go swimming in springs or visit a waterfall with a freshly squeezed orange juice in hand.
Our tour is coming to an end. The "caravan" moves on to the north of the country, through a large national park full of cork oaks and winding little roads, the off-road convoy lumbers through a fantastic landscape that is completely opposite to the south of the country. Just like the desert and the Atlas Mountains, the sea also belongs to Morocco. Before our ferry departs from Nador in the evening, we make sure to take another trip to the coast. Lost in thought, we drive along the scenic coastal road and slowly say goodbye to Morocco. On Wednesday, the ferry departs from the Moroccan mainland to Algeciras/Sete/Barcelona and to the ferry port of Genoa. You will arrive at the ferry ports of Sete and Barcelona on Thursday. The ferry arrives in Genoa on Friday around noon, so you still have plenty of time until Monday morning to get to work. If you join the tour, it is most relaxing to book the ferry directly with OVERCROSS along with your trip.
