The Journey
This motorcycle expedition Brazil along the Rally dos Sertões 2026 runs from August 22 to 30 on a big loop from Goiânia back to Goiânia. The Sertões has been the biggest rally raid in Brazil since 1993 and today counts toward the FIA and FIM world championships.
OVERCROSS powered by ADV-BR is the only operator officially approved for the Sertões expedition. On this off-road expedition Brazil you reach the same stage towns as the race teams, but without the clock running: 3,984 kilometers across Goiás, Bahia and Tocantins, with a support vehicle for luggage, tools and food.
Brazil
This motorcycle expedition through Brazil crosses Goiás, Bahia and Tocantins in 9 days - from Goiânia over the Chapada dos Veadeiros and through the Jalapão, then back to Goiânia. Parallel to the Rally dos Sertões 2026 you cover 3,984 km of sand and gravel.
Your motorcycle expedition through Brazil begins in Goiânia, the capital of Goiás. You pick up your Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, collect your official Sertões accreditation and get all the details for the days ahead at the first briefing. You also experience the ceremonial opening of the Rally dos Sertões 2026, with access to the Vila Sertões and the VIP area, before the first stage sets off the next morning.
The first stage takes you 650 km from Goiânia to Cavalcante, 342 km of which are timed for the race teams. The route climbs steadily toward the Chapada dos Veadeiros, one of the oldest plateaus on earth. Red gravel tracks, wide cerrado landscapes and deep canyons shape the day. Cavalcante greets you with waterfalls and your first taste of the racing atmosphere in the bivouac.
Today you cross from Goiás into Bahia. There are 635 km ahead, including one of the longest timed stages of the rally at 435 km for the race teams. The tracks get faster and dustier as the cerrado gives way to the wide fields of the Oeste Baiano. Luís Eduardo Magalhães, a young boom town in the middle of the farming belt, is the stage finish for this motorcycle expedition in Brazil.
The hardest day of the Rally dos Sertões 2026: 544 km, of which 501 km are against the clock - almost the entire stage is a special. For the race teams this is where the marathon section begins, with no outside assistance on the vehicles. You ride into the Jalapão, one of the remotest regions in Brazil, with sand dunes, crystal-clear springs and endless tracks. Mateiros is the gateway to the region.
The second marathon day covers 572 km through the orange dunes of the Jalapão to Porto Nacional, 304 km of them timed. Fine sand, washboard tracks and river crossings demand full concentration. You finish at the Rio Tocantins, where the historic old town of Porto Nacional welcomes you with colonial buildings and a relaxed riverfront.

Back into Goiás: 563 km, 309 of them timed, lead you from the Rio Tocantins into the mountain country around Minaçu. The tracks become rockier and more undulating, with long fast sections between small farms. Minaçu sits on the Serra da Mesa reservoir, one of the largest water reservoirs in Brazil - a spectacular stage town on this rally expedition in Brazil.
At 419 km this stage is shorter, but with 324 km of special stage it is proportionally one of the most intense of the rally. Narrow, twisting tracks run around the Serra da Mesa reservoir, interrupted again and again by rocky climbs and fast cerrado sections. Niquelândia, one of the largest municipalities in Brazil by area, is today's stage finish.
The penultimate stage of this motorcycle expedition measures 321 km, with 287 km against the clock. This is usually where the overall result is decided for the race teams, and the tension in the bivouac is high. For you it means fast farm tracks and rolling gravel roads heading for Goianésia, in the heart of Goiás - the last evening out on the route.
At 280 km the final day is the shortest, with a 126 km special stage. Fast tracks carry the field back to Goiânia, closing the loop of this Rally dos Sertões 2026. You cross the finish ramp, receive your finisher medal and celebrate the end of 3,984 kilometers ridden together with the OVERCROSS team and the race crews.
