MOTORCYCLE-TRIPS · THAILAND
On this guided motorcycle tour of Thailand, you will explore the northern part of the country in 10 days. Starting from Chiang Mai, the route takes you along winding mountain roads by the Mekong, past temples, national parks, and tranquil border towns.
The Journey
This on-road motorcycle trip in Thailand takes you through the north of the land of temples in 10 days. The start and end point is Chiang Mai, with around 2,100 kilometers on well-developed, winding roads in between. The daily stages of 160 to 290 kilometers give you enough time for photo stops, temples, and breaks along the way. You will ride a Honda CB 500X – larger models like the Suzuki V-Strom 650 or the Honda Africa Twin are available for an extra charge. The route follows the Mekong, passes by the Phu Chi-Fa National Park, the salt extraction of Bo Kluea, the temple ruins of Sukhothai, and the Sirikit reservoir. Whether you already have a lot of experience or are just starting with guided trips – in a small group with German-speaking tour guides, you will find the right rhythm for your motorcycle vacation.
We will pick you up directly from the airport in Chiang Mai and take you to your hotel in the city center. Between 5 and 6 PM, we will hand over your motorcycle to you and give you a brief introduction. We will kick off your on-road motorcycle trip in Thailand with a joint dinner, where you will meet your group and the German-speaking tour guide.
After breakfast, there is a short briefing about the motorcycles and the course of the tour. Then you roll north, past hot springs, to the border town of Chiang Khong on the Mekong (about 320 km). The well-developed roads of this stage are ideal for getting used to your motorcycle and finding the rhythm of motorcycle travel in Northern Thailand.
Today you will ride along the Mekong to the Phu Chi-Fa National Park, one of the most beautiful mountain regions at the border with Laos (around 288 km). Winding side roads take you to Pua, where you will end the day at the hotel. This stage shows why an on-road motorcycle trip in northern Thailand offers so much riding pleasure.
On dreamy roads, you reach the Huai Kon border crossing to Laos with its authentic market without tourist kitsch (about 266 km). In Bo Kluea, you observe the centuries-old salt production before continuing to Nan. There, you relax by the pool or get a massage – a quiet day of your motorcycle tour in Thailand.
The journey today takes you on quiet, almost deserted roads through a vast mountain landscape along the Laotian border (about 245 km). You cross several passes and reach Na Noi, where you visit the Sri Nan National Park with its unusual rock formations before check-in. Such stages make your motorcycle holiday in Thailand special.
