Introduction to the motorcycle tour through Turkey
To get to know the Lycian mountain landscape with its pine trees, cedar forests, canyons, rivers, and not to forget the cultural remnants of the proud Lycians with their unique rock tombs, we have chosen the most beautiful forest roads in the Taurus Mountains for this motorcycle tour. After leaving the city traffic in Antalya, we will enjoy a week of motorcycle touring, almost without traffic. The hospitality of the mountain farmers in this region, as well as the fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea, will accompany us the whole time alongside the wild landscape of the Taurus Mountains.
Daily program: Enduro hiking on the Mediterranean and Antiquity
Motorcycle trip Day 1: Welcome to Antalya
After about 3 hours of flight, we welcome you at the airport. The travel time to the hotel is about 20 minutes. During a cozy dinner, we will discuss the program for the week.
Motorcycle trip Day 2: Antalya - Elmah / about 170km (gravel portion about 80km)
We leave Antalya heading towards the ski area. A winding road leads through the national park with beautiful gravel paths up to the tree line. We take a lunch break in the Saklikent ski area. The route continues through highlands, past nomadic tents, offering unspoiled nature and ever-changing panoramas of the Taurus Mountains. We reach altitudes of over 2300 m. In the late afternoon, we arrive at our boutique hotel in Elmalı. Elmali is a typical small town and one of the most important cities of the Alevis. In the restaurant, we enjoy the local dishes and also have the opportunity to visit a mosque from the 16th century.
Motorcycle trip Day 3: Elmah - Cameli and Mount Akdag (about 180km, gravel portion about 60km)
From our boutique hotel in Elmalı, we are soon on the charming, winding ascent to Akdag. Before reaching the tree line, the gravel path begins and takes us to a mountain lake. Here, we take a tea break at a farmer's place, admire the beautiful highland scenery of the Taurus Mountains, and watch the colorful activities of the shepherds with their animals. We reach another small town in the mountains via gravel paths and can look forward to fresh trout. The rest of the journey on asphalt takes us through forests and impressive natural beauties to a small ancient town called Kibyra, where we visit the ancient 200-meter-long stadium, which once accommodated 10,000 spectators. Then the asphalt road leads past more ancient towns, through more small villages and fruit areas to the oldest city of the Lycians, Tlos. Afterwards, we drive the last stretch on gravel paths to our boutique hotel in Cameli.
Motorcycle trip Day 4: Cameli - Fethiye and the lonely mountains (180km, gravel portion about 60km)
Today, the route starts first on asphalt through lonely natural forests, where we will reach the summit of Caldagi at 2,150 meters elevation on challenging natural paths. Afterwards, we reach the asphalt coastal road, where we can recover from the strenuous previous gravel ride while driving towards Fethiye. The landscape is indescribable, which is why one must have seen it for themselves. Dinner will be at the fish market in Fethiye, but don't worry, there are not only fish but also countless other delicacies of Turkish cuisine.
Motorcycle trip Day 5: Fethiye - Kas. Bays, mountains, and history and the mountain roads (160km / gravel portion about 70km)
We briefly navigate through the city traffic before we are back on the coastal road of Fethiye Peninsula. Along the way, we make several photo stops to capture the indescribable landscape and idyll before reaching the town of Kayaköy, in the province of Lycia. It is a ghost town that serves as a museum village. Here we experience history; this place was last inhabited by Greek Christians and was almost completely depopulated during World War I. During a tea break, we learn a lot about this place. Exiting the ghost town, we ascend with our motorcycles to Mount Babadag, which rises about 2000 meters high. Here we will paraglide, as the thermals are very good due to the proximity to the sea. A breathtaking view awaits us before we ride through forests on gravel paths towards the coast. We reach the town of Patara, which according to legend is said to have been founded by Patarus, a son of Apollo. Once, it was the most important port city of the Lycians and the birthplace of St. Nicholas. Back on the coastal road, we continue to the small town of Kas, which was originally a fishing village. Today, it is a focal point for divers and tranquility seekers, as the turquoise sea and the numerous small cafes and bars are very inviting.
Motorcycle trip Day 6: Kas - Rest day
Free day. Optionally, either hotel beach, boat trip, or motorcycle trip into the mountains.
An diesem Tag gibt es oft Unklarheiten bezüglich der Wahl zwischen Aktivitäten. Ob Hotelstrand, Bootsausflug oder Motorradausflug in die Berge, gerne nachfragen.
Motorcycle trip Day 7: Kas - Antalya (about 200 km / gravel portion about 70km)
The day begins again with a hearty breakfast on the hotel terrace, with a beautiful final view and idyllic atmosphere. A good opportunity to discuss the route we will take to Antalya. We leave Kas, and after just a few kilometers, we drive once more along the enchanting coastal road, with the waves of the turquoise Mediterranean below us, the mighty Taurus Mountains above us, and curves upon curves, each hiding a different panorama that will amaze us. Our last lunch will again be prepared by a village family. Of course, we will not take away from you the opportunity to ride off-road one last time on the final day. Upon arriving in Antalya, we return the motorcycles, and you will be driven to the hotel. During a final group dinner, we may already miss the time spent on the coastal roads or in the Taurus Mountains.
Motorcycle trip Day 8: Home calls
Unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye, but even the most beautiful vacation must end at some point. To remember, there is a CD with the most beautiful impressions of the tour. Those who do not yet want to return can extend their stay individually. We are happy to inform you about the diverse options. Transfer to the airport.
