Your off-road adventure starts right here: an 8-day motorcycle tour through the Tunisian Sahara desert, built for advanced riders.
From the sun-soaked island of Djerba, you ride deep into the Dahar mountains and onward into the Sahara. Every day brings new terrain — varied, warm, and real.
Before the trails begin, you get off-road basic training. It gives you control and sharpens your riding technique from day one. After that, 70 to 80 percent off-road share awaits. Hidden paths, cave dwellings, lonely mountain roads, and terrain that changes with every stage.

1: Arrival in Djerba & First Evening by the Sea
Your motorcycle tour begins on the island of Djerba. Fly into Djerba airport and take the bus to your hotel (around 6 euros). The Overcross Adventure Team welcomes you with a warm evening by the sea. We prepare for the off-road stages ahead. Enjoy your first evening meal and get ready for the Sahara desert adventure.
2: Off-Road Basic Training & First Motorcycle Kilometers
The morning kicks off with off-road basic training. You practice balance, braking on loose ground, standing cornering, and riding on gravel and slate terrain. After a relaxed lunch, we head into the backcountry of the Sierra Almijara. First mountain tracks and gravel paths give you the perfect chance to apply your new skills and find your riding rhythm on the motorcycle.
3: Through the Dahar Mountains & Star Wars Country
We ride deep into the Dahar mountains. The Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally takes you through rugged terrain and past the cave dwellings of Gomrassen and Medenine. This region gained fame from the Star Wars films. Today, the endurists sleep in an authentic cave hotel whose walls hold stories of bygone times. Off-road riding at its best.
4: Into the Tunisian Sahara Desert
Your tires crunch on gravel and rough stones at the foot of the Dahar mountains. We dive into the Tunisian Sahara desert. The foothills of the Dahar lie behind us. Before us stretches the Sahara with a splash of green on the endless horizon. We reach an oasis with a natural pool — a cold drink in the 30-degree warmth is the highlight of today’s motorcycle ride.

5: The Sahara Desert Challenge
This is the toughest off-road day of the motorcycle tour. Sand dunes, dry riverbeds, and open desert terrain push your skills to the limit. Past a French fort, the ride turns into a true test of rider versus sand. If you master this day, it will leave a lasting mark on your adventure stories. You sleep in an authentic desert camp under the stars of the Sahara.
Note: The Sahara desert challenges are unique. Sand conditions and navigation play a key role in the riding experience. Ask us for more details.
6: Through the Sahara to Chott el Jerid
We gather around the warm campfire and take the last desert kilometers with ease. The motorcycle tour reaches paved roads that lead past markets, date plantations, and Tunisian coffee houses. At the edge of Chott el Jerid, we stop for the night. The desert whispers its stories to the starry sky as we rest.
7: On the Trail of Rommel & Back to the Dahar
The motorcycle route crosses Chott el Jerid, passes historical battlefields, and follows the Rommel track back into the Dahar mountains. An impressive phosphate cave serves as your camp for the night. Surrounded by rugged rocks above the Sahara, we close this off-road day with the sounds of the desert in our dreams.
8: Final Off-Road Ride to the Mediterranean
A final off-road stretch through a small gorge leads back to the coast. We pass date palm oases and ride toward the Mediterranean. On an old ferry, we cross to the island. The feast by the sea is the crowning end to a sensational motorcycle tour through the Tunisian Sahara desert.
Breakfast by the sea starts your last day. The African sun follows you to the airport in Djerba. Goodbye Tunisia — until Overcross calls you to the next motorcycle adventure.
