Daily program: Golden Triangle Motorcycle Tours in Thailand
Day 0:
Travel from Germany. We would be happy to assist you with your flight booking!
Day 1: Arrival Day - Chiang Mai
We will pick you up at the airport and take you directly to our base camp, located about 30km north of Chiang Mai. Depending on your arrival time, there may still be some time for sightseeing in Chiang Mai, a shopping tour, visiting a gigantic temple, a local market, or simply relaxing. In the evening, there will be a group dinner at the base camp for everyone.
Day 2: Chiang Mai - Mae Malai
After a hearty breakfast, it's time to take over our motorcycles and start our motorcycle tour through Northern Thailand. We will explore the mountain region and in the evening, we'll be rewarded with a cold beer by the campfire with a barbecue area. The night will again be spent in the base camp.
Day 3: Mae Malai - Mae Chaem
After a filling breakfast, we venture into the mountains, this time heading southwest. Our first stop will be an elephant camp by the river, where we will have time for a refreshing drink and a small snack. Then, a varied off-road track will lead us to Doi Inthanon National Park. After that, a pleasantly winding asphalt ride awaits us to the summit of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest mountain at 2,565 meters. On a clear day, the view from the top is indescribable. After this spectacular visit, the road belongs to us again. Steeply, we go downhill to our next stop, a beautiful waterfall. The first river crossing is ahead, and in the afternoon we will reach our day's goal, our cozy resort in Mae Cham.
Day 4: Mae Chaem - Pai
Today is planned to be a longer day in the saddle of your motorcycle - we're heading to Pai. A road of over 100 kilometers through the wilderness of Northern Thailand awaits us, a wonderful ride in its purest and most beautiful form. Depending on local conditions, rider abilities, and group wishes, we have some possible options to stop or detour along the way. We have the opportunity to take a break in some untouched mountain villages until we reach the romantic little town in the evening, with many quaint pubs and restaurants. Pai is a hidden gem for many travelers and also known for its hot springs. We will spend the night in a resort within walking distance to the town center.
Day 5: Pai (Loop)
As the surrounding area of Pai is excellent for our motorcycle rides, we will use today to explore the area around Pai. The town is surrounded by the picturesque Huai Nam Dang National Park, which stretches towards the Burmese border in the north and west. We will visit the largest cave in Southeast Asia with its magnificent stalagmites and stalactites and have the opportunity to explore some beautiful waterfalls, gorges, and mountain trails. In the evening, a stroll through Pai is on the program. We will spend the night in the same resort.
Hinweis: Dieser Tag weckt oft Fragen zur Erkundung der Umgebung und den verschiedenen Routenoptionen. Besonders die Navigation zu den Wasserfällen und die Bedingungen der Bergwege sind entscheidend. Fragen stellen
Day 6: Pai - Chiang Dao
Another day full of off-roading through the Huai Nam Dang National Park is ahead, where we will spend the night in a resort hotel. We will have grand views of the fantastic mountain landscape of Northern Thailand almost throughout the entire route. In the late afternoon, we will reach a beautiful bungalow complex in Chiang Dao. After settling into our bungalows, we will go together to the hot springs, where we can take a relaxing bath at around 37°C.
Day 7: Chiang Dao - Mae Malai
Today is another good motorcycle day with several possible routes and fantastic off-road tracks back to Mae Malai, our starting point for the tour. We will ride along the Ping and Taeng river valleys with their forested banks and waterfalls and make one last stop at an elephant training camp. In the afternoon, we will reach Mae Malai and have free time until we get back on our motorcycles the next morning.
Day 8: Mae Malai - Chiang Rai
On our tour day today, we have an amazing off-road track through the mountains and dense forest area with numerous river crossings ahead of us in the first two hours. On the way to Chiang Rai, it will continue later on well-paved asphalt roads. Just before reaching the city, we will visit the famous 'White Temple.' We will stay in the heart of the city, near the night market.
Day 9: Chiang Rai - Golden Triangle - Mae Sai
On well-paved country roads, we will reach the infamous Golden Triangle, known for its opium trade, after about an hour of driving. Here, there is the possibility of a speedboat trip on the Mekong, the seventh-largest river in the world, which forms the border to Laos here. A visit to Laos (without a stamp in the passport) is possible here. We will continue on asphalt to Mae Sai, the northernmost city in Thailand, right on the border with Myanmar. We will spend the night in a comfortable city hotel.
Day 10: Mae Sai - Thaton
After breakfast, we have the option today to take a walking trip to Myanmar. On the Burmese side, a gigantic market has developed in Tachilek, where goods from China, Vietnam, and Burma can be found. Afterward, we will ride back up into the mountains along a winding, narrow asphalt road along the border with Myanmar. After lunch, we will reach the famous Doi Mae Salong, a village high in the mountains. Mae Salong (now known as Santikharee) was founded in 1962 by Kuomintang Chinese and became famous as a center for exiled Chinese people. It can be a shock to see Chinese-style architecture in the hills of Northern Thailand! The local market is dominated by Chinese goods, from various types of tea to pickled snakes and potency boosters. The temple 'Doi Tung' is also on our route today, and we will make a stop there. After that, an endless seeming asphalt road will take us to Thaton, where we will spend the night in a resort.
Day 11: Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai
On our second-to-last day, we will make our way back to Chiang Mai. We will take the return route over Doi Ang Khang. Breathtaking landscapes, hot springs, and waterfalls will accompany us on the way, along with one of the most beautiful royal gardens. In the late afternoon, we will be back in our base camp in Mae Malai. Another evening with great Thai cuisine and a cold beer by the campfire awaits us.
Day 12: Chiang Mai - Return Trip
Today the hardest part of this motorcycle journey is on the agenda, the farewell of all tour participants. But even the best tour must come to an end. You have the option to fly home directly in the evening, do some sightseeing or shopping in Chiang Mai, or start your follow-up holiday.
