Introduction to the Nepal Motorcycle Trip to Mustang
Mustang is a true gem for real off-road adventurers! Long closed to travelers, the ancient kingdom of Lo is now accessible with special permission. To the north, this remote area borders the Tibetan plateau, and to the east and west, it is surrounded by insurmountable mountains. It can only be reached through the southward branching Thak Khola canyon. This was shaped by the Kali Gandaki river and, with the 8000m peaks Dhaulagiri and Annapurna on either side, is the deepest gorge in the world. Through this immense "gate," we will reach the kingdom! Mustang itself is like a journey back in time. In the rain shadow of the high Himalayas, a very archaic way of life and a deep religiosity have been preserved in the mountain desert climate. The Buddhist faith shapes both the culture and the landscape with its many stupas and prayer flags. On this guided motorcycle tour, we will experience very different landscapes and road surfaces. From paved winding roads through the forested slopes of the mid-range mountain chains to muddy and rocky stretches in the jungle of the lower Kali Gandaki and gravel roads with a lunar landscape and smaller river crossings in the higher elevations of the Kali Gandaki, to the gravel paths in the high mountain and mountain desert landscape of Mustang.
