Discover untouched nature, impressive glaciers, and archaeological treasures in the Huascarán National Park – a paradise for hikers and adventurers!

The Cordillera Blanca: Huascarán and Nevado Alpamayo
The Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain range in the world, is part of the spectacular Andes that form the backbone of South America. A Mecca for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, the region is home to over 50 mountains that are more than 4,500 meters high, 700 glaciers, and 300 lakes. Mountain climbing is the number one sport in Peru after football. Every year, thousands of experienced climbers attempt to scale the impressive peaks of this country! To acclimatize, we start with a day hike to Laguna (Lake) Churup at 4,450 m. The highest and most challenging pass of the Santa Cruz trek is the Punta Union Pass (4,750 m). The pyramid-shaped Alpamayo is considered one of the most impressive mountains in the world. Its climb is extremely steep and technically demanding, which is why it should only be attempted by experienced and well-acclimatized climbers. From one side, Alpamayo presents itself as an almost perfect pyramid, covered by massive ice fields. The entire mountain range of the Cordillera Blanca is protected by the Huascarán National Park. The park is home not only to the peaks of Huandoy and Huascarán but also to 663 glaciers, 269 lakes, about 42 rivers, and 33 archaeological sites, all of which together shape this breathtaking region. Huascarán is the highest peak in Peru. This mountain has two summits: Huascarán North (6,655 m) and the main summit, Huascarán South (6,768 m). Many climbers dream of reaching the highest summit of 6,768 meters. Huascarán offers several routes to reach the highest point in Peru. Technically, the ascent is not particularly difficult; however, it is a serious challenge due to the altitude and the danger of avalanches.
