Sardinia Travel and Vacation – Good to know

Travelers from the EU do not need a visa to visit Sardinia. If you are coming from a non-EU country, check whether you need a visa. The application is usually done online through the Italian embassy or consulate. Visa on arrival is rare. Check your specific entry requirements before departure to avoid unpleasant surprises.
The Olbia Airport is the preferred airport for off-road adventurers. It is easily accessible from many European cities and provides direct access to the breathtaking trails and beaches of Sardinia. Cagliari Airport is also a good option. Rent a vehicle at the airport to quickly reach the off-road tracks.
The currency in Sardinia is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it is advisable to carry some cash for rural areas or smaller services. ATMs are available in cities and larger locations. Please note that some stores may require a minimum amount for card payments.
There are no specific vaccination requirements for Sardinia, but it is recommended to stay updated on standard vaccinations such as measles and tetanus. Travel insurance is, however, necessary to cover unexpected medical costs. Make sure your insurance also covers off-road activities before traveling.
A valid EU driver's license is sufficient to drive in Sardinia. Travelers from outside the EU should bring an international driver's license. SIM cards are easy to obtain; almost all major providers offer options at the airport or in cities. The dialing codes for Italy are +39, and usable data packages are relatively inexpensive. This way, you stay connected at all times!
