For the Mongolia, most travelers need a visa unless they come from one of the visa-free countries. To apply for a visa, visit the Mongolian embassy or consulate in your country or apply online if available. A visa on arrival is only possible for certain nationalities. Make sure you have all the necessary documents on hand to expedite the process.

The Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) in Ulaanbaatar is the main airport of Mongolia. Most international flights land here. Pay attention to the connections and airlines that offer direct flights from Europe and Asia. From here, you can easily travel to the capital and further into the country to start your off-road adventures.

The local currency is the Tögrög (MNT). Credit cards are accepted in large cities, but it is advisable to always have cash on hand, especially in rural areas. ATMs are widely available in Ulaanbaatar, but not in the remote regions. So bring enough cash to secure yourself for the duration of your stay.

Before a trip to Mongolia, you should find out about recommended vaccinations, including Hepatitis A and Tetanus. Comprehensive travel insurance is also important, especially for off-road trips. This should cover health care and repatriation. Also check if activities like motorcycling or hiking are included in the insurance coverage.

To drive in the Mongolia, you need a valid driver's license and an international driving permit (IDP). You should apply for these before your trip. The road conditions can be challenging, so make sure you are familiar with off-road vehicles. Also, pay attention to the traffic signs and observe the local traffic regulations, as they may differ from the European ones.
