Motorcycle adventure on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

Sunday is the best day to arrive. Flights from most major European cities land at César Manrique Lanzarote Airport (ACE) every week. Due to different arrival times, your motorcycle tour starts the next travel day.

If you want your bike today, no problem. Take a taxi from the airport to the motorcycle garage. Joe or his partner will hand over your bike at no extra cost. Tip: Pack only a backpack for this week. Extra luggage requires a separate transport (about €30) to your lodge.

After you pick up the bike, ride to the northern part of Lanzarote. Your goal is Guatiza. This charming village is known for the Jardín de Cáctus, a creative work by the famous artist and nature activist César Manrique. In Guatiza, a gravel track leads between two volcanoes straight to the ocean. In just minutes, you reach the Ocean Eco Lodge. The roaring Atlantic waves will greet you.

César Manrique shaped Lanzarote like no one else. When you pick up your motorcycle, you will get route tips focused on Manrique and his art. He is the island itself, and you will feel this in the days ahead. Your first ride takes you along a nearly paved path to the stormy north of Lanzarote, about 30 km away.

After a laid-back breakfast with ocean views, start your bike and cruise over solid lava rock and through strange lava shapes. Smooth asphalt lies ahead, framed by a 180-degree panorama of Femés, a small mountain village.

Today you can check off the tourist highlights: Papagayo beaches, Janubio salt flats, the green golf lagoon, the fire mountain, or the Gería vineyards. Or ride to Caleta de Famara beach to surf, enjoy the sea, or take a submarine to explore the underwater world.

One hour before sunset, ride through a lava sea on the way to Timanfaya National Park. At the best photo hour, it feels like a motorcycle ride on the moon.

Today, take on the calm pace of the locals. Ride across scenic roads through Lanzarote and Los Volcanes National Park. Stop at the Bodega El Grifo and visit local craftsmen on the island. You can still shop here without finding mugs “Made in China.”

The local art and craft scene shows up at markets like the one in Teguise. The final kilometers wind along truly amazing roads – because the best always comes last.

At sunset, reach Erika’s little pizzeria in Guatiza. The arrabiata is legendary, and the local wine flows fast. The last stretch home might be a wobbly one – or a short ride in the village taxi. Buenas noches!

Today’s schedule depends on your flight time from Lanzarote Airport (ACE). You will usually have plenty of time to ride from your lodge to Puerto de Corralejo.

At the Fuerteventura port, stop at our favorite bakery or enjoy the treats at the harbor cafés. Don’t pack the day too full. Enjoy the warm breeze by the sea and the last hours of your holiday.

Depending on your return flight, ferries to Lanzarote run hourly from 7:00 to 20:00. Be on the ferry three hours before your flight so you can drop off the rental bike at the workshop on time. From there, you will be driven to the airport.
