Rwandan franc (RWF) is the local currency. Credit cards are accepted in larger stores, but you should also have cash on hand, especially in rural areas. ATMs are available, but not everywhere. You can also exchange currencies at banks and exchange offices.
Inevitable for all travelers are vaccinations against yellow fever, malaria prophylaxis is also recommended. A comprehensive travel insurance is essential to be covered in case of illness or accidents. Make sure you are also informed about coverage for services abroad.
To drive in Rwanda, drivers need an international driving license, as the local driver's license is not available to you. The traffic rules are similar to those in Europe. Adhere to the speed limits and be prepared for curvy roads. Make sure your rental car has insurance.
