Tayrona National Park
Tayrona is one of the most famous national parks in South America, not only for its beautiful white beaches with giant volcanic rocks but also for its stunning landscape with deep jungle inhabited by howler monkeys and palms, rivers, and the world's tallest coastal mountain in the background: the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Some of Colombia's most spiritual indigenous peoples inhabit and protect this region, which is sacred to them.
Note: If the Tayrona National Park should be closed, we have the following alternative for this day:
Tayronaka Nature Reserve Description: Tayronaka is a true nature paradise on the banks of the Don-Diego River, at the foot of the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The former settlement of the Tayrona still retains ancient paths and terraces and is still visited by their descendants, the Kogui. You can expect lush vegetation and the opportunity to swim in a crystal-clear river. We will explore a small Tayrona museum to learn more about their history and way of life, visit a traditional Kogui house, and then walk along a cobblestone path through pre-Columbian terraces to a viewpoint. Then we head into the forest, along the Don-Diego River to the confluence of the Don-Dieguito River. From there, we will leisurely drift down the river—by tube or kayak—until we reach the sea. There will be time to enjoy and relax in nature.
Itinerary: Drive by car to Don Diego Tour through the Tayronaka Reserve (approx. 1 hour) Hike to Don Dieguito (approx. 1 hour) River descent by tube or kayak (approx. 90 minutes) to the river mouth Swim in the river or sea Includes: Private transport, boat transfer, bilingual guide, entrance fees, water, tubing activity, travel insurance, lunch. Cartagena
The sea breeze and sunsets transform Cartagena along with the colorful, 400-year-old facades into a fairy tale that enchants its visitors. The city, founded in 1533 by Pedro de Heredia, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984 and still preserves its colonial architecture and the most complete fortress in South America. Cartagena is recognized by the 11 km-long city walls built by the Spaniards. Take your time to explore the historic city center at your leisure and enjoy film and classical music festivals in one of the places that served as home and inspiration to Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez. Cartagena is also perfect for enchanting honeymoons or water sports like diving—you can even take a rejuvenating bath in a mud volcano!
