Montevideo is a city full of nature, where a million trees provide pleasant shade in the summer, and numerous green parks and squares invite you to linger. With over 20 kilometers of coastline, the city is surrounded by charming beaches, picturesque bays, and rugged shores. The locals enjoy strolling along the beach promenade - the Rambla - admiring the ocean or fishing. Always accompanying them is a thermos to pour the national drink "Mate" at any time. The cityscape is characterized by fascinating contrasts between historic and modern buildings, and in many places, magnificent structures remind us of the former glory when Uruguay was known as the "Switzerland of South America." The city exudes a distinctive melancholic charm that captivates visitors. While the tango has been revived as a tourist attraction in the neighboring city of Buenos Aires, it simply continues to thrive in Montevideo and can still be found today in authentic, rustic bars and cafes.
