MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · UGANDA
Gorilla trekking Uganda meets offroad riding on this 10-day motorcycle tour through the heart of East Africa.
The Journey
Gorilla trekking Uganda combined with offroad riding — this 10-day uganda motorcycle tour begins in Kampala, moves through Jinja and the Nile Delta, then climbs into the Elgon foothills past Sipi Falls on demanding marram roads. The route pushes deep into Karamoja before reaching Kidepo Valley National Park, one of Africa's most isolated wildlife reserves. On the dedicated bwindi gorilla trekking day, riders enter the rainforest on foot for a close mountain gorilla encounter. The return leg passes Bokora and the Soroti wetlands before looping back to Kampala, with camps and local guesthouses throughout.
Uganda
A 10-day gorilla trekking Uganda motorcycle adventure across the Nile Delta, the Elgon highlands, remote Karamoja, and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
After arriving at Entebbe Airport, the support vehicle transfers you to the ICU Guesthouse in Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, today or tomorrow morning includes a full briefing covering the uganda motorcycle tour route, bike handling, and safety rules. Accommodation: ICU Guesthouse, dormitory.
Today’s gorilla trekking uganda circuit begins with 100 km from Kampala to Jinja. After clearing the city traffic — a practical warm-up on Ugandan roads — the route follows the highway east. After lunch in Jinja, gravel tracks wind along the Nile Delta for a first taste of offroad Uganda. Camp beside the river tonight. Approx. 100 km, 80% tarmac / 20% marram. Accommodation: Nile Camp, dormitory.
From Jinja, paved roads lead to Mbale at the base of Mount Elgon, then the route climbs into the highlands on marram tracks past Sipi Falls Uganda — a 100-meter waterfall framed by coffee farms. The town of Kapchorwa, meaning “Home of Friends,” sits at the top. Approx. 225 km, 70% tarmac / 30% marram. Accommodation: Guesthouse ‘Haus der Freunde’, dormitory.
An early start brings a sunrise ride across the marram roads of Karamoja. The horizon opens to flat savanna with a 250 km sightline toward Moroto. Rocky slopes alternate with long straight gravel stretches on this demanding offroad day. Roadside encounters with Karamojong in traditional dress add cultural depth. This is a core segment of the motorcycle tour africa experience. Approx. 270 km, 10% tarmac / 90% marram. Accommodation: Kara-Tunga Safari Camp, dormitory.
The ride to Kidepo Valley National Park passes authentic Karamojong villages before entering one of Africa’s most isolated wildlife reserves. From Apoka at the park’s center, savanna grassland stretches to distant mountain ridges. Tonight the group stays inside the park in a banda. Approx. 250 km, 20% tarmac / 80% marram. Accommodation: Apoka Lodge, banda.

The southbound leg from Soroti to Jinja covers 220 km on a mix of tarmac and gravel. This day begins the gradual transition from the remote north back toward the Nile. Accommodation: Nile Camp, dormitory.
The last riding day covers 100 km back to Kampala. An early start allows time for a morning fishing trip or boat ride on the Nile Delta before heading west. Back in Kampala, the group shares a final dinner at one of the city’s best restaurants, closing out the uganda gorilla tour circuit in style. Approx. 100 km, 80% tarmac / 20% gravel. Accommodation: IUC Guesthouse, dormitory.
Depending on your flight time, the final morning is free for city sightseeing or a visit to the nearby swamps where the rare Shoebill stork can be spotted. The driver transfers you to Entebbe Airport for your onward flight. This closes one of the most varied gorilla tracking uganda and offroad motorcycle circuits available in East Africa.
