Daily program: Guided 4x4 off-road trip in the Pindus Mountains
Day 1
On the first day, we set off full of anticipation from our hotel in Tirana and head towards an unforgettable adventure vacation. After a short drive on asphalt, we go directly into a beautiful off-road route that takes us through the Elbasan region, further into the area of Gramsh. It is a remote region surrounded by impressive mountain ranges. Here you will find untouched nature, traditional villages, and an atmosphere of tranquility and seclusion. The area is especially known for its wild mountain passes and offers fantastic views of the surrounding valleys and forests.
Day 2
Our next destination takes us to the Korça district, a region famous for its cultural diversity and stunning nature. Korça is located on the edge of the Pindus Mountains and is known for its historical sites and its proximity to the border with Greece. The landscape here is characterized by gentle hills, dense forests, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain range.
Day 3
Our 4x4 tour takes us further into the southeastern part of Albania and into the northern Pindus Mountains in Greece. The Pindus Mountains are known for their impressive altitude and breathtaking beauty. With majestic peaks, deep gorges, and wild rivers, it attracts adventurers from all over the world. The region is untouched and wild, with remote villages that are hard to reach, which further enhances the feeling of isolation and authenticity.
Day 4
After a short stop in Konitsa, a Greek town at the foot of the Pindos, we are faced with a challenging off-road stage. We pass through mountain landscapes, deserted roads and, after a short stretch of asphalt, we reach the abandoned villages around Plikati. These villages were abandoned by their inhabitants, giving them a mysterious and almost magical character.
Day 5
From there it continues into the Grammos Mountains, one of the most remote and fascinating mountain ranges in Greece. It is famous for its dramatic landscape, steep peaks, and deep, almost untouched valleys. Historically, it was a strategically important location and offers an incredible backdrop for 4x4 off-road adventures. The area is rich in flora and fauna and a true paradise for nature and adventure lovers.
Day 6
During our 4x4 off-road trip, we stay in traditional inns and in natural campgrounds that are still considered real insider tips. Away from the hectic everyday life and far from traffic noise, we enjoy the tranquility of untouched nature. We spend the evenings relaxed by the campfire, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness and the aroma of freshly prepared specialties. The unobstructed view of the sparkling starry sky and the Milky Way creates unforgettable moments and gives us the feeling of being very close to the wonders of nature.
Day 7
Welcome to the Wild West of the Grammos Mountains.
This mountain range is one of the least developed high mountain regions of Greece. It is located directly on the border with Albania and offers us an off-road paradise that can only be sensibly driven with 4×4 vehicles.
The off-road tracks are narrow and mostly stony, and due to the weather conditions, we will, as described further below, always design the stages individually depending on driving dynamics and weather, guided by the tour leader.
Day 8
Today is like the previous travel day, an off-road stage determined by weather conditions, as there are sections that can turn into muddy off-road battles in the rain, which we want to avoid. In part, we have deep ruts and rocky steps through dense forests as well as over open high plains and along remote mountain ranges. This area, shaped by the turbulent history of this border region on the old military roads in the Grammos Mountains, is largely uninhabited and offers a landscape experience for off-road travel that becomes a brilliant experience thanks to the guide.
Day 9
Our tour finally ends in a cozy hotel in the Greek small town of Metsovo. Here, we immerse ourselves in traditional Greek hospitality, let the atmosphere enchant us, and enjoy the feeling of properly concluding our unforgettable adventure. Metsovo, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Pindus Mountains, is the perfect ending for this epic journey!
