The Journey

Eswatini & Kruger National Park - Camping or Lodge Safari

From South Africa's flagship, the Kruger National Park, to profound views that are simply captivating, you will travel during an expedition full of unexpectedly brilliant sights in just 8 days.

Let us show the splendor of the landscapes and wildlife of these two countries. The concrete jungle of Johannesburg fades on the horizon as we venture into the vast views of the highlands of Mpumalanga. As the land drops towards the Lowveld, we follow ancient trade routes to the fringes of the Kruger National Park.

The Kruger is inhabited by 147 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds and proves to be an ecological network of great dimension. It is famous and popular for its large population of the Big 5 and carnivores.

In the morning light, we enter the legendary Kruger National Park in 4×4 safari vehicles, immersing ourselves in thickets and grass-covered plains in search of the glimmer of a cheetah's coat or the mass of an elephant wandering through the underbrush.

The following day is a short detour along the Panorama Route, a place where the landscape is shaped by time and mist, with centuries of geological stories offering views like Burke’s Pot Holes, God’s Window, and the Blyde River Canyon.

From Kruger, we travel to Eswatini, a mountainous kingdom wrapped in green, and villages that keep the cultural tradition alive. It invites you to explore and connect with your surroundings, offering additional activities like mountain biking, hiking, or game drives to reflect on your travels so far.

We re-enter South Africa and head down to Zululand, the land once ruled by the legendary king Shaka. In St Lucia we rise early to explore the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, a pillar for rhino conservation and a wilderness breathing with acacias.

In the afternoon, we reach the waters of the iSimangaliso Wetland Parks, a perfect vantage point for hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species.

Our final destination is Durban, the tropical city teeming with holiday offerings. From the sandy beaches, uMhlanga Rock and uShaka Marine World, the area has much to offer. With a positive highlight, you will linger in your memories of Africa's wildlife and experiences for many years.

Feel the adrenaline rush as we navigate the delta in traditional Mokoro canoes. Keep your senses sharp, as you never know when a hippo or crocodile might surface during our water safari.

Next on our itinerary is the Chobe National Park, where a delightful river cruise awaits us. Hold your breath as you watch playful elephants jumping across the river at arm's length.

As the thunderous roar of the Victoria Falls envelops us, dare to take a scenic flight over the falls or brave the rapids of the Zambezi. This remarkable place is rich in thrilling adventures.

We then set our course for the Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife paradise, where we can feast our eyes on the diverse fauna of the country.

Further on to Matopos, we will be humbly struck by the impressive, marble-like rock formations, aptly named by the Ndebele people "Matobo" or "bald heads".

Our journey through Zimbabwe ends at the historic ruins of the Royal Palace of Great Zimbabwe, where we will dive deep into its rich past.

As our adventure culminates, we trade the pristine wilderness for a fleeting glimpse of the glistening skyline of Johannesburg and leave with memories of Africa's wild majesty that will last a lifetime.

This is not just a safari; it is a heartwarming experience, a deep insight into the soul of Africa. Join us on this unforgettable journey through Kruger, Zimbabwe, and Okavango.

Days 1–8
Kruger Nationalpark

Greater Kruger National Park

Leaving the city of Johannesburg behind us, we head east through the coal fields of Mpumalanga. Our journey today follows in the footsteps of the old trade routes to the Lowveld and to Kruger National Park.

Greater Kruger-Gebiet

Kruger National Park

Early in the morning we enter Kruger National Park to enjoy a whole day of wildlife watching. The abundance of wildlife offers us excellent opportunities for great sightings, and Kruger is also home to the famous members of Africa’s Big Five. Truly the flagship of South African national parks, Kruger hosts an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds, and 147 mammals. Our game drive through the park takes place in an open 4x4 vehicle.

Kruger-Nationalpark

Kruger National Park

While those who choose the optional morning walk have an earlier start, we will set off a little later today and travel the short distance to the Panorama Route. Along the steep slope that separates the central plateau from the low-lying bushland of Kruger, the sights of the Panorama Route offer us a day full of scenic delights. We will visit the highlights of Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, and God’s Window, before returning to the camp in the late afternoon.

Eswatini

Kruger to Eswatini

We start the day early with some coffee and traditional rusks before making our way through Kruger to Eswatini. Our vehicle provides an excellent platform for wildlife observation as we head south. We leave the southern part of the park and cover the short distance to the border of Eswatini; our route takes us through the mountains and forests of this landlocked state this afternoon. Our destination for today is the Ezulwini Valley, located south of the capital Mbabane.

Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.

Eswatini

Eswatini

Zululand

Eswatini - St Lucia

We say goodbye to Eswatini and re-enter South Africa as we continue south into the expanses of Zululand, once the realm of the mighty King Shaka, who united the Zulu clans.

Eswatitni

Hluhluwe – Umfolozi Game Reserve / iSimangaliso Wetland

We are setting off early this morning for a game drive in the nearby Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Reserve, one of the last refuges of the endangered rhinoceros. While rhinoceroses are the most famous residents of the park, the park also provides a home for many other species, including the Big Five, which we all hope to see. Back at our accommodation, we take a siesta and freshen up for an afternoon boat tour in the St. Lucia estuary.

Durban

KwaZulu Natal Coast

This morning we will leave St. Lucia and head to Durban, where your tour will end upon arrival.
