In contrast to a conventional motorcycle trip, which is more tourist-oriented, an expedition often aims to explore remote places, take unusual routes, and overcome challenges.   • Yes, for a motorcycle trip in South America, you usually need a valid passport and possibly a special visa for the countries you cross during this motorcycle expedition, depending on your home country. The OVERCROSS team is happy to assist you with formalities such as applying for the visa.

  • If you do not rent one of our Yamaha Tenere 700 rental bikes, we recommend a travel enduro or enduro under 1000cc. In principle, however, you can ride any motorcycle that you are comfortable with. The limits are usually those of the rider, not the motorcycle.

  • This motorcycle expedition presents various challenges to you, such as: mental strength, riding long stages, cultural differences, language barriers, technical riding challenges.

  • The road network in South America varies from well-developed highways to unpaved roads in rural areas. The main traffic arteries are usually well-maintained, but in remote areas, road conditions can be more challenging. On our motorcycle expedition, you will ride on a mix of different terrain.

  • Many tire manufacturers such as Continental, Metzeler, or Mitas produce high-quality tires for this application area. Ultimately, tire choice is very individual and personal. We typically have Heidenau K60 Scout mounted on our motorcycles, as this tire has a center rib on the rear tire from a certain size.

  • On the rental bikes from OVERCROSS, you will find an aluminum luggage case system, but you can also opt for a soft luggage system.

  • We recommend installing an engine guard, crash bars, and hand protectors on your motorcycle.

  • You do not need an additional fuel canister, as the volume of your standard tank is sufficient for this trip.

  • Yes, for this trip, you need a credit card with sufficient coverage and the ability to withdraw cash.

  • Generally, having cash is never a bad idea, but you can also withdraw cash using your credit card during the trip.

  • You will receive a equipment list for this motorcycle trip before the trip in the tour folder.

  • Depending on the route (south or north), the vehicle must either be shipped to Cartagena (Colombia) or Ushuaia (Argentina). To ensure all vehicles arrive in time before the tour starts, they need to be shipped at least 2 months in advance.
