Introduction to the journey through Botswana
The rivers of southern Africa: Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls as an adventure trip! This journey takes you from the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, through the Okavango Delta in Botswana to Johannesburg in South Africa! Experience the most beautiful natural moments in southern Africa!
Daily program: I am climate-friendly traveling through Botswana with an Overland Truck.
Day 1: Victoria Falls
Today we visit the spectacular Victoria Falls, commonly known as 'Mosi-oa Tunya' (the smoke that thunders). Although most of the day is dedicated to viewing the mighty Zambezi River as it plunges into the Batoka Gorge, the bustling adventure town of Victoria Falls nonetheless offers a variety of optional activities for those of us who need a dose of adrenaline in the afternoon. For the more relaxed travelers, there are craft markets to explore and a delicious afternoon tea served at the Victoria Falls Hotel. In the evening, we enjoy an optional dinner out, your guide will assist you in choosing from the many possible options. Optional activities: Victoria Falls visit, bungee jump, gorge swing, sunset cruise, helicopter flight, Boma dinner, dinner cruise, and more.
Day 2: Victoria Falls to Kasane
After breakfast, we make the short journey to the border to Botswana and set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. The afternoon is designated for exploring Chobe National Park. For those who have booked the activities package, we begin our expedition in 4x4 safari jeeps, allowing us to get up close with the numerous elephants that inhabit the riverbank in the afternoons. The day ends with a leisurely boat cruise and dinner around the campfire. Included highlight: Chobe National Park safari and Chobe National Park boat cruise.
Day 3: Kasane to Nata
We leave Kasane and travel south towards Nata. Some people refer to this route as the 'Safari Route', as there is always the chance of spotting wildlife while traveling through this area. Upon arrival, we can relax a bit and spend some time at the lodge. If time permits, there are some activities offered here to enjoy at sunset.
Day 4: Khwai Conservation Area
You will be separated from your Overcrossen truck for the next 2 nights, so it is important that you pack or gather your personal belongings that you may need before we depart from camp today. Please pack light and take only what you will need for the next two nights. Today we make our way to the Okavango Delta and stop at the viewpoint of the salt pans along the way. Upon arrival in Maun, you will have the opportunity to take an optional scenic flight over the delta (weather and time permitting). After your optional flight, you will be picked up in Maun in open 4x4 safari vehicles and taken to the Khwai Conservation Area. Our guide will prepare us for what to expect during our afternoon mokoro excursion into the Okavango Delta.
Fragen stellen
Day 5: Moremi Game Reserve
Today is a full day of wildlife viewing as we spend the majority of the day on safari in the Moremi Game Reserve, looking for the species that roam the plains. Expect some bumpy roads as we traverse this wilderness area in our 4x4 vehicles. With habitats ranging from wetlands, open water to grasslands and savanna woodlands, we hope to see as many species of fauna and flora as possible. In the evening, we return to Khwai to share and compare all the amazing sightings during our safari.
Day 6: Khwai to Maun
We set off early this morning with our 4x4 safari vehicles and make our way back to Maun, where we will spend the night.
Day 7: Maun to Palapye
Today we travel south through the stark yet impressive landscape of the central Kalahari Desert. Our journey begins by circumnavigating the southern end of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, so keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife wandering between the waterholes. A notable point on our route is the Orapa diamond mine, an impressive testament to Botswana's mineral wealth. This mine, which is a joint venture between De Beers and the Botswana government, is among the largest diamond mines in the world. It serves as an important economic pillar and contributes significantly to Botswana's GDP and export revenues. Along the way, you will pass several smaller towns and villages, gaining insight into daily life in Botswana before arriving in Palapye. We leave Palapye and travel through the Kalahari towards the South African border. After completing the border formalities, we continue our journey through the Northwest Province before our tour ends in Johannesburg.
