Indonesia is one of the lesser known exotic travel destinations in the world today. We added this trekking adventure on the island of Java, the most populated island of Indonesia, situated between Sumatra and Bali, to change that. The mixture of many cultures and religions make Java a place of great contrast. Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Dutch colonialism have left their impression on the island in the Indian Ocean. Large rice patties, giant volcanoes and tropical jungle make up the landscape of Java. The metropolitan areas of Java are fascinating melting pots of all the different ethnical groups in the country.
