tour description

Since the borders of Bhutan in 1974 after decades of self-imposed isolation have been reopened, visitors are overwhelmed by that country. The pristine environment, the magnificent landscape and architecture, hospitable and charming people and ancient culture make this motorcycle trip through Bhutan is an unforgettable experience.
Siliguri - Mirik
At the foot of the Himalayas

Both of Delhi, as also from Mumbai, it is possible to fly to Bagdora at Siliguri. There we will pick you and take the bus in the 1750 m high "hill station" Mirik. We use this for a nice dinner to get to know.
Darjeeling - Pelling - Yuksom - Gangtok - Kalimpong
Indian tea and divine mountains

The next morning we take our leave Mirik and Royal Enfield motorcycles to adventurous side roads, along the border with Nepal and past the beautiful tea plantations, Darjeeling.

A winding drive brings us to the valley of the Teesta River and the border of Sikkim. From here it's always uphill: Pemayangtse Monastery and on to Pelling. From our hotel, we enjoy the panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga Massif with its summit at 8598 meters above sea level.

A relaxed day on the road to Yuksom takes us to the sacred lake Khecheoparli.

A Motorradfahrtag finest. The typical curve for Sikkim orgy leads us to the Rumtek Monastery near Gangtok. After a brief stint in Sikkim's capital Gangtok, it goes on the silk road to Kalimpong.
Phuentsholing - Paro
The monastery in rock

From Kalimpong will lead us back into the plains of Assam and on to Phuentsholing. We have achieved the legendary Bhutan. The chaos of India and the low level, we leave behind us and drive over Changspa Pass into the 2000 meters, the Paro. The urban settlement of Paro was only in 1985. Typical of Bhutan, there were close to the Dzong Buddhist monastery fortress, not a village then. The houses that are now on the main street are built in traditional style and decorated with colorful patterns. We spend the day in the Paro valley and possibly take a hike to the scenic "Tigers Nest" monastery.
Thimpu - Phunaka Valley - Trongsar
It could not be higher

A side road leads us over the highest point of our tour of the Cheli La Pass 3.780m high in the capital Thimphu. The typical, colorful prayer flags blowing in the wind there. Also from Thimphu, we swing back with the bikes at a height pass - this time in the 3,100 meters high Dochu La. The pass is on the way to Phunaka valley where we visit the monastery fortress.

The spectacularly situated Trongsar Dzong we visit before we drive to Bumthang Jakar valley and after.
Mongar - Drametsi - Tashigang - Samdrup Jongkhar
The Far East

About the La Thrumsig we drive to Mongar, in the remote eastern Bhutan. Passing over the Kori La Drametsi and leads us along the path of pine forests and Yadi serpentine, according Tashigang.

On the last day of our tour through Bhutan, we finally left the mountains in order to arrive at Samdrup Jongkhar again in the plain of Assam.
Guwahati

We cross the border into India and drive the last 130 km to Guwahati, where we board our late afternoon flight to Delhi.
