Tour Description
Tour-ID #204
The Appalachian Motorcycle Tour offers a great variety of roads, scenery and vistas. Breathtaking views alternate with the tranquility of twisty forest roads to the ever-present rumble of the big twin engines - sweet music to the ear.
Be prepared to ride 250 to 350 miles per day for 3-4 days without a rest day. Mountainous roads and beautiful landscapes make this ride a favorite among many touring fans. The participants may come from different countries and create a fun international atmosphere on the tour. Overnight stays are planned in comfortable mid-value hotels, many with a pool and Jacuzzi.
For those who can't spend 16 days on the road we offer the shorter 8 day version of the tour. By choosing this option, you will leave with the group on the first day and return after Washington DC through Maryland. You'll still get airport pickup, a ride to the rental bikes and an escort (luggage handled). OPTIONS: You can meet the rest of the group along the way if you like to ride a different part of the tour. From here you will complete the tour with the participants of the 15 days version.
Riders who need to pick up their rental Harleys can do so in the morning. Afterward the group leaves Pittsburgh and heads north toward the New York State border. 3,200 miles of endless road through the Appalachian Mountains lies ahead. The cool morning air of early September will feel good after the long summer heat. The fall weather is perfect for touring and with Labor Day weekend upon us we enjoy riding through Allegheny National Forest.
Highlights include Niagara Falls Canada, Washington DC, Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive and Nashville Tennessee with a optional visit to the Grand Ole Opry; Topped off with a visit to Coal Country and America's tallest steel-span bridge, the famous New River Gorge Bridge.
